Tony Boccaccio is after a bag of cash that he believes is his. Max Burke thinks otherwise and has hired two couriers to take the money to California.
Mickey Soto is a commercial pilot hauling freight and instructing students from a small, Florida airport. Tony hires Mickey and his airplane to go after the couriers. Mickey thought his days of flying illegal cargo were behind him, but the lure of easy money and his policy of 'don't ask/don't tell' cause him to add to his history of poor decisions.
Tony's cousin, Gina, jumps in to help, and the three of the end up in a desperate cross-crountry race that leads to a West Coast pier and a fateful decision by Tony that impacts their lives in ways that none of them could have foreseen.

Paul Smith : This is a story about a chase involving a group of gangsters and an unwitting pilot caught up in the game plan of the main character Tony. The characters are well drawn and I think everyone has met someone like Tony - impossible, crazy, thinks he's invincible, thinks he's self reliant but needs others around him and is perfectly capable of manipulating everyone around him through force of character.
The characters are well drawn and, mostly, believable and I enjoyed what is, in reality, a thin story held together by events unfolding and very strong characters. I enjoyed the book immensely and, once started, didn't want to put it down ... the mark of a good book.
This one would make a great film - any film producers watching this site take note. It would make one of those old fashioned funny, zany films with its twists and turns.
It could have done with another edit for there were a few mistakes and the usual American split infinitives, over use of got/get (there are always better ways of saying get/got) and that horrible word "gotten" that really grates this side of the Atlantic; they didn't detract too much - the characters and story shone through despite this.
